UPDATE: It's Official! Budget Increases Anti-Hunger Funds

When we wrote on July 1 to tell you about one of the most significant funding increases in years in our fight against hunger in Pennsylvania, we urged you to keep you fingers and toes crossed as several hurdles remained to really finalize the 2016-17 budget final. Well, it’s now official … and more money is heading for the state’s anti-hunger program.

Here it is straight from the Department of Agriculture’s release:

The department’s State Food Purchase program will see a $750,000, or 4.1 percent, increase in FY 16-17. This builds on the $1 million in additional funding appropriated last year to launch the Pennsylvania Agricultural Surplus System, or PASS. PASS will again have $1 million available to implement in FY 16-17.

On behalf of Hunger-Free Pennsylvania, we can’t thank you enough for your support and advocacy over the last year. It made all the difference in ensuring our legislative leaders and the administration heard our calls to help people in need. And, thanks to those who really kept those fingers and toes crossed to carry us over the finish line.

For all you’ve done, and for all you do, thank you.
